PRP, also known as Platelet-Rich-Plasma is derived from collecting blood from your own body, putting it into a centrifuge and spinning it down to separate the red blood cells from the plasma, which is a gold colored substance that is left from the separation. This “liquid gold” as we call it, contains hundreds of growth factors and is used in esthetics for a variety of treatments such as facial rejuvenation, hair restoration, recovery and more recently for vaginal rejuvenation.
At Cupertino Facial Esthetics, we offer the most innovative treatments.
Treatments that PRP is used for:
Under Eye Dark Circles
By injecting your PRP to the under eye area, we are able to increase blood flow, and inject growth factors which will allow for the dark circles to naturally lighten up and the hollows to be corrected. Different from dermal fillers, when PRP is injected under the eyes, you will have an immediate “filled” look, which is mostly swelling that will subside within a few days. The PRP stimulates your own collagen and elastin which will result in a natural look. A series of 3-4 treatments are necessary to naturally stimulate your own collagen and give you natural results that will last.
When PRP is injected into the scalp, we are able to stimulate hair follicles that have lost blood flow, resulting in thinning hair and hair loss. At Cupertino Facial Esthetics, we always draw 2 tubes of blood in order to inject double the amount of PRP into the scalp. We know that the more PRP we are injecting, the better results we will get and the thicker your overall hair growth will be.
A series of 4-6 treatments are necessary spaced out every 4-6 weeks. After your first treatment, you will notice less hair falling out. After your second or third treatment you will notice thicker overall hair and possibly some baby hairs beginning to grow (fine, thin hairs). After your 4th, 5th and 6th treatment you should notice an increase in the current results. However, your biggest boost of hair growth occurs 3 months after your last PRP injection. The number of treatments may vary from patient to patient and some patients may choose to supplement in addition, however, we only recommend Nutrafol supplements, a natural vitamin filled tablet that will increase your results over time. The G-Spot Shot, also known as the O-Shot, is when we inject your PRP into the inner and outer vaginal area to promote increased sexual stimulation, treat incontinence, tighten and overall vaginal rejuvenation. One to two treatments can be necessary. You will start to notice results 4-6 weeks after your injection and results can last 12-15 months. No physical activity, intercourse or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after the procedure. You can resume normal day to day activity immediately following the treatment. The procedure from start to finish is 45 minutes.
Patients suffering from acne scarring can do a combination of Micro-Needling and PRP injections to improve the texture, tone and divers from acne scars. 3-6 treatments are necessary spaced out every 4-6 weeks.
Patients with dark colored stretch marks can get relief and correction with the combination of Micro-Needling and PRP injections. 3-6 treatments are necessary spaced out every 4-6 weeks.
Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)
Plasma is the liquid part of blood that is composed mostly of proteins and water. It performs a vital function of acting as a medium through which white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets (thrombocytes that facilitate blood clotting and other natural healing functions of the body) circulate through the body.
The ultimate objective of PRP injections is to use the body’s own plasma to stimulate and support its natural healing, cellular growth and renewal process. A PRP injection is rich in cytokines, which are known to stimulate the healing process of soft body tissues.
Given the fact that PRP injections boost the body’s healing process, they have been tried and tested as a treatment for stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The gynecological issue affects a large number of women across the globe. Aging, birth trauma, estrogen deprivation and obesity are considered potential risk factors that can lead to the issue.
A pilot study was conducted to find the effectiveness of PRP injections in treating SUI in women. The most crucial factor in SUI in women is the pubourethral ligament effect. It was seen in the study that A-PRP compositions had many rejuvenating abilities. Administering them as injections could provide mechanical support to the urethra, thereby restoring the normal anatomy of the pelvic region and reduce urethral hypermobility.
PRP injections serve as a superior agent compared to previously used bovine collagen, paraffin, polyacrylamide gel, polydimethylsiloxane, and hyaluronic acid, owing to their autologous nature and zero-to-minimal allergic reactions. These injections are durable, biocompatible, and non-migratory.
Moreover, their reparative ability can potentially repair damaged ligaments and improve treatment effectiveness. Treating SUI with PRP injections is a safe and effective treatment option for those struggling with SUI. It can provide noticeable results within 1 month after the treatment, with continued improvements seen over the course of time as the body heals.
